Prentice Cooper State Forest

State forest and wildlife management area on the Cumberland Plateau along the Tennessee River Gorge, about 10 miles west of Chattanooga. Horseback riders may use the forest roads and the trails mapped as non-motorized, which they share with hikers, cyclists and vehicles. During managed big game hunts (September to early December, plus spring turkey hunts) the area west of Hwy 27 is open to licensed hunters only, and side roads close Dec 20 to Mar 15.
